Australian wine is very much home territory for a group of tasters in Hampshire, England, where I live. This rather surprising outcome is due to the years that David Thomas spent running Caviste in Overton, our local independent wine shop. David trained as a winemaker at Roseworthy, near Adelaide, and then imported all the then new-wave Barossa winemakers who were his friends and colleagues. He launched many of us on a journey of exploration of all things Oz. I was then able to follow up what I had learnt in an unforgettable week in South Australia in January 2016. Many thanks to David for his suggestions and introductions. And my, we were bowled over by Australian wine tourism …
